MOREHOUSE - Stricken by a heart attack while walking home. Lex Monroe SMITH 84 year old resident of Morehouse, died Thursday afternoon.
He was born Nov. 1, 1878 in Lebanon, Tenn., son of the late Bert and Betty SMITH, and on Jan. 22, 1904, married Miss Faye Ellen DUNN.
Surviving are his wife, at home; five daughters, Mrs. Gladys ACKERMAN, Mrs. Laura KETTET and Mrs. Lois JOBE, all of Des Moines, Ia., Mrs Lois PERRY of Chicago and Mrs. Ellen LAMBER of Morehouse; three sons, Leon and Chester SMITH, both of St Louis, and R. M. SMITH of Des Moines; 21 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, Morehouse, until time for services which will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Watkins Chapel. The Rev. Don GLOVER of Sikeston will officiate and interment will be in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins and Sons in charge of arrangements.
