John Bartouch, age 20, Pvt. Co. "F" First Missouri Vol. Inf. Capt. Kennerly, enlisted Aug. 15, 1861 New Madrid, MO. Battle in:-Shiloh, Corinth, Tuscumbia, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson. Captured at Baker's Creek, Miss., May 16, 1863. Muster Roll on file Adjt. Gen. Office Jefferson City, Mo. Nativity: New Madrid, Mo., Residence: New Madrid, Mo. Additional pages with repeat information shows John Bartouch, Age 25. In 1870 I find John listed on the 1870 Mississippi Co, MO census as age 30 with wife Mahala (surname Hutchison), age 17 and a son born 2 years earlier (my great-grandfather). In 1880, Mahala is listed on the 1880 Mississippi Co. census as a widow from second husband, Wm. Hall, with her two sons listed as Bartouch with father born Illinois and mother Kentucky. John died 1876 Mississippi Co, MO. Mahala married 3rd time 1881 to Douglas Goddard and although I have the descendants of the children of John and Mahala, I am searching for the ancestors of John and Mahala. I have no addition information on Mahala after 1880 census.
