Morehouse - James Lilbourn GREER age 69, a former resident of Morehouse for 20 years, died in Chicago, Ill. Wednesday. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James GREER, and was born in Perry County, Tenn., on Feb. 24, 1894. He spent his youth at Lilbourn, and later moved to Canalou and Granite City, Ill. after which he moved to Morehouse. He has been retired for the past 10 years.
On Sept. 17, 1915, he was married to Miss Ruth Lee LANDERS, and five children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in death on July 7, 1962, as did one son.
He is survived by two sons, Raymound GREER of Palm Beach, Fla., and Bennie GREER of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters. Mrs. Hershel SLOAN of Morehouse, and Mrs. Thelma FLURRY of Riverside, Calif. 150 (paper said) grandchildren; one brother, Jerome GREER of Mansfield, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Alice LEE and Mrs. Pearl VOLT, both of St. Louis, Mrs. Alice GUENDRIN and Ruth COOPER, both of Cape Girardeau.
The body will be brought to the Watkins funeral Home in Morehouse, where it will lie in state until Saturday. Services will be conducted at the Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Jack BISHOP officiating.
Burial will be in the Hagy Cemetery near Dexter.
