BARNETTE / BRANDON / MARION / SHY
Looking for any info to prove a tale that says Mitchel Luke MARION, a Civil War soldier, no doubt Confederate, was an "outlaw" who rode with William QUANTRILL and then with Frank & Jesse JAMES. From the Farrenburg/Barnes Ridge area. Mitchel was age 35 in the 1860 census and was supposedly killed in 1876 around Farrenburg. Apparently, Mitchel appeared on Discovery in "Old Outlaws of the West," but when I don't know. Supposedly a member of the MARION family married into the BARNETTE (Barnett?) family who had a store on Barnes Ridge and the gang spent the night at the BARNETTE (Barnett?) home.
Marion's dtr, Columbia C., married Jesse SHY, and their son had a SHY store in Farrenburg (I think). After Mitchel died, later--Aug 15, 1892--Columbia married a Sam BRANDON of LeSieur (probably LeSieur township).
Question is: how can I prove this tale? Do you know anyone connected to these families whom I might contact? Mary Sue Shy Anton

CARTER
Alebert Lee CARTER Seek info on Alber Lee Carter and Point Pleasant. Albert Lee CARTER was b July 16 1871 the son of James CARTER (b ca 1838 in New Brunswick, Canada) and Elizabeth ? (b. ca 1853 in MO). in (probably New Madrid Twp) New Madrid Co. He married about 1870 but there is no record of it in New Madrid Co. He died at Point Pleasant in New Madrid Co on Sept 3 1948. He is buried most likely Yount cemetery though the stone is gone, the cemetery badly overgrown, but his 2nd wife's stone is there and his death certificate says he was buried at Point Pleasant. I am researching his mothers maiden name.
1) What church would be appropriate for someone living in Point Pleasant in 1948? religion is unknown but I do know some of my other ancestors off this line were Methodist Episcopal. I know that my mothers aunt (another dau of Albert Lee CARTER) always said she was b. near Portageville.
2) Do these church records still exist and can they be seen? Are there private pastoral records? I know the Mormons ahve not photographed any church records for New Madrid Co but that does not mean they dont exist.

CROCKETT / SANDERS
In 1869,My gg-grandmother, ELNORA "MALISSA" CROCKETT married at age 16 in New Madrid Co., BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SANDERS. (Benjamin Sanders was the son of Joseph Sanders who arrived in New Madrid before by 1840. )
I 'm desperately trying to find ANY trace in New Madrid Co. or surrounding counties, of Malissa Crockett's parents, who would have arrived after the 1860 census, and before they were enumerated on the 1870 census in Lincoln Co., MO. (In 1870 Elnora Malissa is shown with her new husband in New Madrid.) I believe her parents to have been John Crockett and Rebecca Jane Bailey from Humphreys Co., TN (at the 1850 census). I need to place the Crocketts in New Madrid in order to prove that they are her parents. John and Rebecca Crockett had other children in addition to Elnora, so perhaps some small trace of them may exist in New Madrid Co. Their children of were: William "Henry" Crockett bc. 1846 TN; Emily b. 1849 TN; Elizabeth b. 1850; Ellen F. "Ellie" b.c. 1858 IL, Edward b. 1864 IL; and a step-brother, Oliver P. Myrick b.c. 1840. I have much information on the SANDERS/SUMMERS/DENHART families of New Madrid Co., and will be glad to share my findings. Any information on any of these families will be much appreciated.
