Surnames WRIGHT, NEELY, CASTLEBERRY,.
Comments:
My
mother (Bertie Lou NEELY) is trying to track down some old family
photos.
Her Great Aunt Mollie WRIGHT lived with her niece Mary (Mollie
Wright)
CASTLEBERRY and her husband Nev CASTLEBERRY in Lilbourn, Mo. The
Great
Aunt Mollie WRIGHT had a RED VELVET PHOTO ALBUM WITH GOLD CLASPS
AND A
LOCK ON IT. In this album were many old family pictures of the
WRIGHT
FAMILY. Many of these pictures were taken by the WELGE PHOTO
STUDIO in
Chester, Illinois.
The younger Aunt Mollie (WRIGHT) CASTLEBERRY
died in Lilbourn, 12 Feb.
1943, and then Great Aunt Mollie WRIGHT died in
Lilbourn also, in Aug. of
1943. At the time of her death she was still
residing with Nevell
CASTLEBERRY, he was a Pharmacist there in Lilbourn
for many years.
Nevell CASTLEBERRY later remarried there in
Lilbourn to a school teacher
by the name of Gladys Lee (I can't think of
her previous name)
CASTLEBERRY. I am sure that she was was pretty well
known, as she
authored a couple of books, one of them being "Memoirs: A
Heap of Sun &
Shadows".
At some point after Nevell and Gladys
married they retired to
Edinburgh,Texas, it was at this point that I
believe Nevell sold his home
to Bill TOPE, Mr. TOPE lived there for many
years, and I am sure has
since passed on. For some reason one of my
Aunt's had thought that this
album would still be in the home that Mr.
Tope had purchased, she was
quite elderly when she made this statement,
however pretty darn alert for
90 yrs. of age.
Does anyone know
if there are any living descendants from any of the
above mentioned
people?
The majority of the people that would have been in this
album would
probably be WRIGHT'S, NEELY'S and CASTLEBERRY'S. The NEELY'S
come in from
Minnie WRIGHT NEELY, Minnie was a sister to the younger Aunt
Mollie. I
would love to be able to get a few of the family pictures
copied if we
could locate any of them!
Thank you for any time
on this matter. Debbie Snook
